THE ALARM INFORMATION PAGE
There are 6 sections
that describe and
define the basic
functions and components
of a modern electronic
security system.
Taken in order these sections are titled,
GENERAL
INFORMATION - Basic
Functions of a Security Systems.
CONTROL
PANEL - What
Your Control Should Do.
INTRUSION
DETECTION - Sensors
and How They Detect an Alarm.
FIRE,
SMOKE, AND HEAT DETECTION - Detectors
and How They Work.
CONTROL
SIGNALS - How
Your Alarm is Heard.
MONITORING
- How
Your Security System is Monitored.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Usually referred to as alarm systems since since their conception,UNDERSTANDING SECURITY SYSTEMS
We now call them "SECURITY SYSTEMS". These control devices
are far more versatile and multi-function capable than the term,
alarm system conveys. This is true even for the most basic
of today's systems. Today's control systems are sophisticated
intelligent programmable devices.
I) ALL Security Systems Have 3
Basic Functions.
ALL 3 are necessary
in ALL Security Systems.
II) These functions are named, CONTROL, SENSORS, and SIGNALS.
A) The CONTROL is the Brain of the Security System.
ii) Input received
from the SENSORS are interpreted here.
The CONTROL is capable of receiving multiple
types
of inputs and responding differently to each type.
iii) Depending on the type
of input, the CONTROL may
send a SIGNAL to alert
someone of the alarm.
iv) The CONTROL
may be programmed to wait for
additional inputs for alarm verification.
v) The CONTROL
is capable of sending multiple types
of SIGNALS each requiring a different response.
ii) SENSORS are designed to detect specific types of events.
iii) SENSORS alert the CONTROL to send the SIGNAL.
C) SIGNAL
is the Voice of the Security System.
ii) The type of SIGNAL
generated by the CONTROL is based on the
instructions given by the programming of the SENSOR
inputs.
iii) The SIGNAL can be audible, silent, remote, or any combination.
That's it
The basic functions
of EVERY Security System.
